Integrated Structural Biology
The Summer School in "INTEGRATED STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY" is aimed at Bachelor's and Master's students from various scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry, medicine, physics, and computer science.
The week-long programme will cover essential structural biology techniques, such as X-ray crystallography, small-angle X-ray scattering, cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and computational structural biology.
Each session will be led by experts in the field and is structured in two phases: morning lectures on theoretical features of structural biology, followed by afternoon laboratory sessions, where theoretical knowledge is applied to real-world projects. In the laboratory, students will work with cutting-edge equipment, such as transmission electron microscopes, synchrotron light, and magnetic resonance.
By the end of the week, students will benefit from an efficient understanding on the major structural biology techniques and their main applications, enabling them to critically evaluate scientific literature, design and carry out experiments, and communicate their results effectively.
