Introduction to Earth and Climate Dynamics
The Summer School in “Introduction to Earth and Climate Dynamics” is designed for students aged 16 to 18 interested in understanding and protecting the planet from geological hazards and climate change. The programme can be considered as a preparatory path for the Bachelor’s degree in Earth and Climate Dynamics, which provides interdisciplinary training in various Earth System components.
During this week-long immersive experience, there will be lectures on geology, paleoclimatology, geomorphology, oceanography, and atmospheric physics, as well as hands-on laboratory activities and field trips. Students will engage in laboratory work, including microfossils identification and geological cores analysis. Key highlights include a two-day trip to the UNESCO-listed Dolomites and Vajont Dam, and a visit to the Po River delta, a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
The programme culminates in a group project and a final ceremony awarding participation diplomas, held at the University Museum of Nature and Humankind.
