Self-mutual aid for visually impaired youth
Based on the many years of experience of the self-help group for visually impaired adults and the elderly, a new self-help group was set up in Padua for visually impaired young people between 15 and 27 years of age, with the support of the Regional Centre for Visual Rehabilitation of Low Vision, the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Padua and the association Psicologo di Strada (Street Psychologist). The group is based on the principles of self-help and group experiences for people sharing the same problem, that are coordinated by a facilitator. The group is open to all interested parties (if the participant is under 18 years of age, a written consent signed by both parents is required) with meetings at the Regional Centre for Visual Rehabilitation, one of the Italian excellences in rehabilitation medicine. Meetings are held in presence approximately once a month. The next meeting is scheduled for September, after the summer break; to attend, one must make a reservation at 3472440685 or atÌýcristiano.draghi@libero.it, project manager for Street Psychologist.

Young Committee of Uici Veneto
It is a group of young blind and visually impaired individuals, aged between 18 and 35, from the Veneto region. Each province has its own coordinator who organises activities at both local and regional levels, creating a dynamic environment full of opportunities.
The committee organises a wide range of activities, from sports and culture to adrenaline-pumping experiences and independence camps. For example: ice skating, climbing (both in the gym and on rock), guided tours of cities and museums, go-karting, theatre and communication courses, meetings with sexologists, psychologists, influencers, and Paralympic athletes.
Beyond the Young Committee, the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (Unione italiana dei ciechi e degli ipovedenti) helps members who need support, such as providing assistance to increase autonomy inside and outside the home (through instructors in orientation, mobility, and personal autonomy), help with reading and studying with ease, support for pension-related matters, and much more.
