Àdel Alsalti-Baldellou is a young researcher with an academic background in Mathematics and Physics, which he studied at the University of Barcelona. After an incursion in the private sector, he went back to the university to do a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, ultimately leading him to pursue a PhD at the Heat and Mass Transfer Technological Center of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. So far, his research has lied in the intersection between Numerical Linear Algebra, High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). During his PhD, he focused on developing and implementing Poisson solvers for incompressible CFD simulations, with a strong emphasis on leveraging modern HPC systems. Over the past year, he has worked as a postdoctoral researcher in a PNRR project at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padova, whose focus was on porting HPC codes to GPU-accelerated supercomputers, with particular emphasis on Algebraic Multigrid (AMG) preconditioners. In his MSCA-PF project, EXtreme-scale Algebraic MultiGrid for next-generation nuclear simulations (EXAMG), he will broaden his field of expertise by specialising AMG for MagnetoHydroDynamics (MHD) simulations, targeting key nuclear applications such as the simulation of plasma within fusion reactors.Ìý
